Bignonia capreolata
This is a nearly evergreen climber from S.E United States and is hardy in the south of the UK, needing a sheltered wall elsewhere. In mild winters in protected sites it will keep its leaves. It produces masses of trumpet-shaped maroon/burgundy flowers with golden/orange flared and recurved edges during the early summer, somtimes lasting for 6 or 8 weeks with occasional flowers later in the season. The specimen in these photos is growing in the English Country Garden and partnered by Rosa 'Etoile de Hollande', with which it grows, without swamping - a useful indication that the growth of this climber is not too rampant to mix with other climbers.

In this photo you can see the tendrils that Bignonia use to twine around any available support. Some form of support is all this plan needs; it is happy in most soils and does not need feeding or training but definitely will flower better in full sun.
