Eryngium bourgatii.
'Sea Holly'. An invaluable plant for using amongst spikey plants like Yuccas and Agaves as it matches their character and does not compete with their shapes. The open stems of flowers do not obscure the architectural qualities of surrounding plants and the blue colour is complemented by grey succulent foliage. The flower spikes reach about 40cm in height and the foliage about 15cm. The leaves are almost evergreen and as the previous seasons crop are dying back a new compact flush will emerge making an attractive display before the flowers take centre stage.
